It is important to keep in mind that only in the nominal pressure range are all the values specified in the technical sheet applicable. This is especially true if you are dealing with accuracy\/error values. Once you exceed the nominal pressure range, the data sheet values are no longer true and may be exceeded, i.e. the output signal can no longer be used to obtain accurate measurements.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-fea9330 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"fea9330\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">What happens if the user selects a much wider measurement range, i.e., the user only uses a fraction of the nominal pressure range, say 10 bar from a 100 bar sensor?<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-bb07b65 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"bb07b65\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>It&#039;s not a big deal. Or at least not a major one. The truth is that most accuracy parameters, such as linearity, repeatability, hysteresis, etc., are relative to the actual reading\/value, not the full scale.<\/p><p>Its maximum value is defined in the data sheet and expressed as a percentage of the nominal pressure range, but the error in service actually \u201cscales down\u201d with use.<\/p><p>If the linearity (or rather: the non-linearity) is 0.1% of the full scale (final value), this means that a 100 bar pressure sensor may experience a deviation of 0.1 bar from the ideal line and this is expected to happen somewhere near the middle of the range, i.e., at 50 bar.<\/p><p>But when the measurement is limited to only 25 bar with the same transmitter, the deviation from linearity is expected to reach not 1 bar but only a fraction of this value.<\/p><p>In fact, if you want to use a 100 bar sensor to measure pressure from 0 to 50 bar, the expected linearity error between 0 and 50 bar would be approx. 0.025 bar and is expected to move around 25 bar.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-b81e0dd elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"b81e0dd\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">And what about the resolution of the process pressure transmitter?<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-98aa41a elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"98aa41a\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The only remaining limitation to consider is the resolution of your electronic equipment receiving the signals, i.e. your PLC&#039;s analog input card or your instrument&#039;s input or display.<\/p><p style=\"text-align: left;\">In most cases, this is no longer a problem today, as they typically provide 12-bit resolution and higher.<\/p><p style=\"text-align: left;\">If we look again at our previous example and assume that we only use the sensor up to 25 bar, this will still give us a 10-bit resolution (in the case of a 12-bit A\/D) providing a resolution of 0.1% 0 \u2026 25 bar (= 0.025 bar)<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-be5f1aa elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"be5f1aa\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>It is very important to choose the appropriate pressure range for each application.
